What a topic is and how it is represented and used within the app
What is a topic?
A topic is a themed sequence of strands.
The strands within the topic are numbered, with 1 being the easiest.
The skills/knowledge/methods from strand 1 are sometimes required for strand 2 and sometimes the skills/knowledge/methods for strand 1 is unconnected but easier than those for strand 2.
Some topics have only a few strands, some have many. The topic stem and leaf has 3 strands and value of (index) - pdf & mp4 has 15 strands.

The topic calculator skills - pdf & mp4 has 8 strands.
The skills and knowledge from strand 1, strand 2 and strand 3 are required to learn strand 4.
The skills/knowledge/method from correct to strand 2 (correctTO2.pdf) e.g. " Write 637.647 correct to 1 decimal place." is required for calculator skills strand 6 (calcSkills6.pdf)
The strand number gives an indication of the level within a topic but not between topics.
For example add strand 4 - adding two double digits, is easier than ratio strand 1 sharing an amount of money into a given ratio.
